When should I finish taking the ACT and SAT?

I've already taken them the first go around and I got a 26 on my ACT and a very bad score or 1570 on my SAT. I know I want to re-take the SAT, and I figured I would re-take the ACT and try to get a 29 this go around. I wanted to finish taking them both by November 1 of 2011 and I will graduate in May of 2012. Is this too soon? Should I space them out and take one in the spring of 2012 so I have more education or would getting them done sooner be beneficial? I already know what college I want to go to and I would like to have everything sent in by November 1st.
